Highway German Shepherd Dog Club

German Shepherd Dog (GSD) Federation of south africa

Highway GSD Club was established in 1984 when GSD Federation of SA was first formed.  Our current club training facilities at JB McIntosh Drive, Summerveld were Officially opened by the then President of the Federation, Mr Mike Sullivan on 10th December 1995

We are a group of GSD enthusiasts, which includes breeders, trainers, sport enthusiasts and proud German Shepherd owners.

Our A B C club breeders promote both GSDF clubs in KZN for specialised socialising and foundation training of their pups when leaving at 8 weeks.

We host Breed Shows, Breed Surveys, Training events namely AD, BH and IGP trails for the Breed and Sport individuals from our club to be able to participate at National events.  We also host fundraisers and seminars to provide information to ensure the well being of our beautiful breed.

The wealth of expertise in our club is numerous, from breeding, rearing and training of our breed.  To assisting to lay correct foundations for Tracking, Obedience and Protection, all which make up the requirements for IGP trials.

We have a programme in place with regards to socialisation and assisting you to know how to support and guide you puppy during growth and fear periods to ensure a well balanced and confident dog at the end of the day.

We are proud of the great club spirit amongst our Breed, Sport and Social members, all of whom ensure our club growth and that of our precious breed.

Our breed makes for the most fantastic family protector.  To ensure this we believe that training is of utmost importance.

To begin and end, the GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG is the focus in our club, and ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met is what our Committee and Trainers strive for.  Building a strong bond between owner and dog has to be our first objective.

We are proud to have extensive grounds which allow for tracking and our obedience field which allows for socialisation, breed and sport training to be ongoing with our different trainers.  The goal is that whilst watching IGP training from our socialisation class, you might allow the bug to bite and wish to learn what it takes to get to that level.
